Its the shadows and reflections cast from the future that interest me.

Groovy/Grails Avalanche : 22 hours = groovy.blogs(); New Podcasts, New Articles, Splashcasts, etc

posted Saturday, 3 March 2007
Glen Smith has made available the code to his blog aggregator project and his aggregator is online and available for reading.  He used Grails to build it in a scant 22 hours.  You can see the terrific results from 22 hours of work here -  a full groovy.blogs() aggregator web site.  I'm really quite impressed with the effort and the result of 22 hours.  You can read the full project effort at his blog.  If you want to see the source code - check it out here.  Groovy/Grails is really taking off - it is pretty clear from the increasing numbers of blogs that a lot of developers are using it.  Just a few Groovy/Grails related activities that will probably surprise you. Let's start first by saying that you can read a new article, The Search for the Holy Grail(s), at developer.com.  Recently I have bumped into a Groovy / Grails podcast (also here at Sven Haiges' blog) which is already on podcast 29.  If you understand the Thai language Chanwit Kaewkasi has started a Grails Series (Thai) splashcast.  Minnesota has just spun up >
a Groovy Users of Minnesota group.  There is an upcoming Grails conference in London, Grails eXchange 2007 and you can see the conference track here which looks great!  You can see this is generating alot of excitement at Jason Rudolph's blog. Grails will be part of the Sun Java TechDays London '07 on March 15th where Graeme Rocher will be doing a 1 day workshop on Groovy+Grails !   Incidentally - you can pick up Jason's PDF presentation from his talk at the Charlotte Java User Group here. There is a ton of stuff happening with Groovy/Grails.   Stay tuned.
