BLOG: "...I am not sure if I have any reason to go back to Eclipse now."

posted Friday, 15 April 2005
This blog is what I am seeing more of and what I was referring to. Some at Eclipse.org may be sitting happily thinking thoughts like "the industry Download 4.1 Beta Download
has spoken" and other such thoughts - but in the end it is about the developer experience. Incidentally, this is why competition is good. It is not enough to be a decent or an okay IDE - Eclipse is going to have to compete to win. They are going to have to compete against other faster excellent Swing-based IDEs. Having a number of IDEs competing creates a healthy Java ecosystem (although I don't think that's what Mike Milinkovich was talking about when he suggested "Its the ecosystem, stupid"). This blog is a good example of the problem that Eclipse faces :
I am not sure if I have any reason to go back to Eclipse now. So far I really like what I see with Netbeans 4.1. I can’t wait to see what the final version will be like.
