Apache Common Daemon : A Common System Service for Java-Based Server Apps

posted Thursday, 20 September 2007
> If you want a Java-based server (such as Tomcat) to start up along with other Unix (or Linux or Windows) services then you may be interested in the Apache Commons Daemon. It comes with the Tomcat project (no surprise), however, it is useful for other server apps.  A Java-based server app  might have to do several tasks before shutting down the JVM process and the Apache Commons Daemon allows this.  (thanks to twit88)
