The NetBeans 3.6 Beta
is out and the emerging consensus is that it rocks. I tried it
out on a PowerBook and it looks great and seems so far to fly
(speedwise). Others are also finding a
similar experience on JavaLobby. The NetBeans team did a great
job. They have produced a fast and good looking IDE.
The new NetBeans 3.6 Beta includes
:
-
A new windows
system, providing native look & feel
-
Enhanced navigation
and workflow
-
2-tier J2EE 1.4
support (servlet 2.4 and JSP 2.0)
-
Improved JSP
debugging with JSR 45 support
-
Tomcat 5 Integration
-
Code editor
enhancements such as Smart Brackets
-
Integrated testing
support through JUnit
-
Improved online help
with JavaHelp 2.0 integration
-
and much, much more
There are so features. Steve Wilson provides a nice tip on
how to use both J2SE 1.5 Beta and NetBeans 3.6 Beta - see here. You can
download it here.
